News and alternative media

Zed Mag is a radical journal based in US, and has very interesting articles by range of North American, Asian, and South/Central American writers.  Excellent source of alternative and indepth analysis, though not a light read! It also has a resources page.

Indymedia is an international news site and has bases around the world.  Interesting if not comprehensive source of information about campaigns, and perspectives different from mainstream:

Panos “Panos is an international non-profit institute providing information on global issues with a developing country perspective”.

Schnews - Brighton anarchists’ news and campaign site Has an archive if its weekly news bulletins.

John Pilger’s (journalist) site, full of articles on globalisation, and global issues.  Recommended.

George Monbiot’s (journalist) site, again, full of articles on globalisation, consumerism, environmental and global issues.  A site for sore eyes!

Green Net “Established in 1986, GreenNet is a not for profit collective, dedicated to supporting and promoting groups and individuals working for peace, human rights and the environment through the use of information and communication technologies.” Also good links to a wide range of organisations mainly in UK, but internationally too.

Campaigns and Organisations

People and Planet is the student campaign group and has a good site with information and resources as well as campaign news.

One World.net is a website bringing together lots of news, issues, sources organisations, campaigns and links from all over the world.

Refugee Council  site includes info/issues/campaigns/news about refugees.

Save the Children Fund Education site.  SCF has an excellent Education team, and this site has some useful resources on Sustainable Development and Palestine.

Katie Sierra is the young woman who was expelled from school in the US for wearing an anti-war t-shirt last November.  Will be of particular interest to young peace activists, but also those concerned with US politics, free speech, anti-war campaigning etc.

Mexican Zapatista movement site.  If you can read Spanish, all the better, but if not, follow the links for info in English. 

Anti Slavery International "is the world's oldest human rights organisation founded in 1839." They provide education resources.
Oxfam education

Peace Pledge Union "is an independent organisation of individuals from all walks of life. Their shared belief is that war and violent conflict are neither necessary nor inevitable." Useful resources and documents for classroom use.

African anarchism

Globalise Resistance brings together groups and individuals opposed to the global growth of corporate power.

Anarchist People of Color A US site, with some interesting Black and southern people’s perspectives rarely heard in the mainstream.  It has an interesting links page.
